Alaska Legal Services Corporation provides free legal services to eligible clients determined by income eligibility and case eligibility. Alaskans over the age of 60 are usually provided assistance without regard to income, although a priority is placed on providing assistance to seniors in social or economic need.

There are a number of factors that are considered when we make a decision about income eligibility. Generally, you will be eligible if your income does not exceed 125% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Depending on your situation, you might be eligible to receive services even if your income is higher than the guidelines.

My son is mentally disabled and has made some mistakes in his FAFSA and disability dealings. He is about 30 years old and has no income outside disability, which is being cancelled. He thinks he is going to jail and I was hoping to find someone he could talk to about options, if any. Please let me know if this is something you can help with.

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
