Nevada Legal Services, Inc. (NLS) is a non-profit organization providing free legal services to low income Nevadans. NLS is a state wide organization assisting every county in Nevada. Because we are primarily grant funded, we do have income guidelines we must follow. Generally, we can only represent Nevadans with income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. We also have restrictions on the amount of assets our clients can have. With our other grant funding these income levels can change. Please feel free to contact any of our offices and we will be more than happy to do an intake to see if you qualify for our services.

I am looking for representation in the Carson City Juvenile court on a criminal matter.

I am seeking guidance in helping my son with a criminal charge. He is 26 years old and has no past record. He was assigned a public defender. As we all know that office doesnt have funds or desire to help in any way. I went to a private lawyer for a consultation. She gave me hope for a defense to allow him out sooner than what the public defenders deal made with ADA. unfortunately, with that defense comes a price of which i fell short of cash wise. I have money but not what she was asking. what i need to know is how to fire the pd and find a lawyer paid by the state then i will pay for expenses; first and foremost an evaluation, investigators to go thru evidence, paralegal to go thru all the discovery and then the lawyer will have all the information needed to present it to get a better deal. this virus has put a halt on any court proceedings. the law library is closed. He has the right to representation and hes not getting it from the public defenders office. and i dont have as much money as the lawyer wanted to hire her. Before i left the office she did warn me of those who will take my money and then come back to me with "Sorry i cant do anything for you."

I believe that you may be offering a clinic for low-income veterans to assist with addressing the sealing of rental history and other civil and criminal background records. I saw a flyer recently, however; I cannot find the flyer and was hoping that you might be able to provide additional information and potentially a flyer to disseminate to the low-income veteran population in Northern Nevada. Any assistance and information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Important Information

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
