Central American Refugee Center has provided high quality legal assistance to immigrant communities in Nassau and Suffolk counties for over thirty years. We screen for a broad range of legal relief when we meet with our clients and inform them of the immigration benefits they are eligible to apply for and the implications of applying for them. Our Pathway to Citizenship Long Island program provides free citizenship legal services, credentialing of foreign-earned degrees and free financial counseling for lawful permanent residents. Our Refugee Child Unit program conducts legal outreach and intake for unaccompanied children that have resettled in Nassau and Suffolk counties, assessing avenues of legal relief and representation for children that are currently in deportation proceedings.

Monday to Thursday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mission Statement: The mission of this program is to incorporate immigrant communities into Long Island by highlighting how naturalization helps immigrants as well as their families and communities while supporting them through the naturalization process. We hope to undo popular myths about the difficulties of passing the written and spoken naturalization exams because we are confident that almost every lawful permanent resident can pass. This program hopes to create a culture of citizenship by providing services and resources that allow the newest naturalized Americans economically and socially integrate into their communities and empower others to do the same.
