The Erie County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc., provides free civil legal services to low income households in Western New York. This work has had incredibly important consequences for our clients and their families. We have kept families from becoming homeless through defense of tax foreclosures and evictions. We helped unaccompanied minors and immigrant victims of human trafficking receive fair treatment under the immigration law. These are only a few examples of the cases we handle.

Please note that our office does not accept walk-ins, an appointment must be made. We do not validate parking.

Mission Statement: VLP’s dual mission is to: (1) provide quality free civil legal services for low income people and smaller not for profit groups; and (2) to effectively involve volunteers in the delivery of those services.

Important Information

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
