LegalCORPS assists small businesses and nonprofits, especially those that strengthen Minnesota’s low-income communities, by providing individuals and organizations with business law services they could not otherwise afford. It seeks to provide quality pro bono legal services to increasing numbers of clients throughout Minnesota, so they can focus their time and resources on pursuing their objectives. For individual business owners and for nonprofit organizations that meet its guidelines for eligibility, LegalCORPS can recruit attorneys to provide free legal assistance for their non-litigation business law matters.   The attorney-client relationship for full-representation assistance is the same as it would be for a fee-paying arrangement. LegalCORPS conducts a number of regularly scheduled free brief-advice business law clinics, at which participants can receive up to 30 minutes of consultation on their business law issues.  Some clinics are conducted in person; some are conducted via video conference.  If circumstances prevent people from attending in-person or video conference clinics, LegalCORPS can try to arrange a brief-advice session by phone.

Hello, JB at MitchellHamline law school referred me to you: Thank you for contacting our Intellectual Property Clinic. I am not an attorney and cannot give you any legal advice. I’m sorry to tell you we are not accepting any new potential clients at this time. You may want to contact LegalCORPS for some possible guidance and help. I believe they are in Minneapolis but my contact info is in the office and I’m at home. Here's my inquiry: I’ve just registered my company name Santhanol at the Sec. of State office — I have a question about registering this name as a trademark with the ® mark. What advantages, obligations, prohibitions might such a registration entail? Can you advise, or point me to a source for more information? Santhanol will be a no-touch hand sanitizing device which I’m just beginning to explore how to produce from a design at instructables.com. Many thanks. Stefan

Important Information

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
