Hello, I left my husband almost a year ago and am needing to get a divorce. I was going to file for one soon after I left him and ended up not being able to afford an attorney and loosing my job. When I left him I was not aware he could keep my belongings from me even if I called the cops. He ended up loosing the apartment and storage unit and refused to either let me get my things or give them to me. I lost a everything including all of my daughter things I kept from the first year of her life because she is no longer with me. I do not know where he is or how to get in touch with him. I want him to pay for everything he lost that was mine, there was no reason for him to keep my things from me, especially when he knew I needed to get them because he was loosing the apt and storage. Most items were irreplaceable. I was working two jobs, was seeing a doctor for what was possibly a serious medical condition (I have a large lump on my breast), he was not bringing home a paycheck and lied to me about why even when I showed him I knew he was lying, and he would not even help around the house even though I worked two jobs. Most of the time I ended up working from 8am to 1am and had had enough.

My neighbor has a problem with the leasing office of our apartment complex. He fell behind in his rent and they came to an agreement that if he paid X amount on specific dates they would not lock him out. He was short on one of the payments. He approached them with what he had and they would not take a partial payment. They wanted the whole payment or nothing at all. They are now threatening to lock him out. Does he have any recourse in this situation?

Important Information

Legal Aid Funding
Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
