We provide free legal services in restraining order and limited family law matters for domestic violence victims in Alameda County. With lawyers on staff, Family Violence Law Center is well-equipped to guide victims through the court systems.


We work with people who need help with:

    *Domestic Violence Prevention Act restraining orders
    *Child custody filings (as attached to a domestic violence restraining order)
    *Visitation requests (as attached to a domestic violence restraining order)

Mission Statement: Family Violence Law Center helps diverse communities in Alameda County heal from domestic violence and sexual assault, advocating for justice and healthy relationships. We provide survivor-centered legal and crisis intervention services, offer prevention education for youth and other community members, and engage in policy work to create systemic change. Legal aid professionals and organizations oftentimes receive government funding for taking on cases with those who cannot afford attorneys. For the most part, funding is limited so legal aid entities can only take on a limited amount of cases. Qualifications are often rigid.
